COLD SMOKE

This residence was designed and built for an active Bozeman family, seeking a high-performance Scandinavian-inspired home. Continuous exterior insulation, triple glazed windows, rain screened claddings, obsessive air sealing, and thermal bridge mitigation were focus areas. Extensive structural steel detailing and the complex luxury appliance suite were involved project components.

Through the use of varying foundation wall heights and retaining walls, Trimbach minimized this home’s impact on the rolling native grasslands. The home was placed into the hill versus on top of it. Outdoor living spaces were designed to account for prevailing weather patterns, maximizing comfort.

Trimbach’s design scope of work included architectural design, interior design, structural & architectural steel shop drawings, landscape design, and engineering coordination.

Trimbach’s build scope of work included general contracting/project management, wood framing, structural steel erection, weatherization & glazing installation, siding installation, ipe hardwood decking installation, concrete deck footings excavation and pour, hardwood flooring installation, all interior trim carpentry, wood staircase build, custom cabinetry fabrication and installation, built-in furniture fabrication and installation, and acoustic slat wall installation.
