DESIGN
Our design work begins with how a home will be experienced and how it will perform over time. Light, air, comfort, and quiet shape daily life as much as proportion and material. Successful buildings emerge from clear priorities, careful listening, and an understanding of how site, climate, and building systems work together.
Each project is developed holistically. Solar orientation, views, wind, and topography inform the organization of space and the relationship between interior and exterior environments. Structure, enclosure, and mechanical systems are considered alongside spatial sequence and material expression, allowing performance and architectural intent to evolve together from the outset.
Our work is informed by high-performance building principles, whether or not formal certification is pursued. Training at the Certified Passive House Tradesperson level provides a rigorous understanding of airtight construction, thermal continuity, balanced ventilation, and moisture control. These fundamentals guide decisions about assemblies, glazing, insulation, and shading, resulting in buildings that are comfortable, durable, and efficient to operate.
Design is never separated from how a building will be constructed. With a background spanning both design and hands-on building, construction documentation is developed with careful attention to sequencing, tolerances, and long-term performance. This continuity allows ideas to move from concept into the field without compromise.
When working in design-build, early decisions are evaluated against constructability, cost, and performance, creating a clear path from concept to completion. When working in a design-only role, the same technical rigor ensures that construction documents support faithful execution of the architectural vision.
