Timberline Residence

The Timberline Residence is organized as a series of distinct volumes arranged around a sheltered courtyard, establishing a clear relationship between interior living spaces and the surrounding mountain landscape. A fully glazed connector acts as a transitional hinge between the primary wings of the home, mediating movement while framing views and introducing controlled moments of transparency and compression. Public and private spaces are defined clearly through separate volumes.

Each volume is expressed through a restrained material palette, with contrasting cedar siding and dark vertical cladding reinforcing the building’s compositional clarity. Carefully proportioned roof forms and extended overhangs provide environmental protection while emphasizing horizontal continuity and visual connection to the site.

Large glazed openings extend living spaces outward into the courtyard and surrounding landscape, allowing interior and exterior environments to function as a continuous spatial sequence. The building envelope incorporates balanced ventilation, high-performance glazing, and comprehensive air sealing, supporting long-term durability and environmental performance in the cold mountain climate.
